Hello everyone. Now that we’ve all had a couple of weeks to recover from the excitement of the annual Loon Call Lake regatta and corn roast, I thought we might circle back with some fond memories and some “thank you”s.
First the “thank you”s. A big thanks to Erin Billinghurst for running a very tight and very fun ship at the regatta. There were many smiling faces that day, many of them splashed with “pin-head” water (see the accompanying photos). It takes a lot of work to make something seem so effortless. And Erin definitely put in the work.
Next up – Jacquie and Mike Cane and their crew. Thanks to them, we were treated to expertly prepared burgers, hot-dogs and corn on a splendid summer evening, surrounded by friends and neighbours. You can’t do much better than that.
And to my expert “wing-men” Harry and Nathan – thank you for your help with the tickets and the megaphone, and to Brian Webster for ticket sales. We are grateful to our local sponsors (Hunters, Shoreline Furniture, Tuckers, Home Hardware, Grape and Wedge) and to Loon Callers for the fantastic prizes. Thanks in no small part to all of you, the raffle draw was a success. In the week following the corn roast, we delivered a cheque to the North Kawartha Food Bank for $960!
And finally, to our now “Past President”, Margi Colquhoun, a very big thank you from all of us for making the events of the day a success, and for your many years of service. Thanks to you, the Loon Call Lake Cottagers’ Association is thriving.
See you back at the landing next year. In the meantime, here are some photos to help you remember the day.
